Two designers passionate about craft...
Our Story
Rayner Kellas is a family-run cabinetry and furniture studio based in Edinburgh. We design and make bespoke furniture that strives to blur the line between elegant minimalism and whimsical eclecticism, celebrating material honesty and thoughtful construction. Grounded in traditional craft techniques and informed by modern technology, our work results in tactile, carefully considered pieces, that are made to last. All furniture is crafted in our Leith workshop using locally sourced materials.
The studio was founded by cabinet maker Jethro Rayner and architect Jodie Kellas Wilson, bringing together backgrounds in cabinet making, architecture, and design.
Jethro is a cabinet maker with over twelve years’ experience in the field. After leaving architectural studies, he moved to rural France, where he worked with a traditional cabinet maker in the Loire Valley. It was here that he developed a deep appreciation for making and gained a strong foundation in traditional craft skills. Following his time in France, Jethro returned to the UK, working in London in senior production roles before relocating to Scotland.
Jodie is an award-winning architect who has practised in both Edinburgh and London, with a focus on community-focussed and private residential projects. She is passionate about sustainability and the role of architecture and design in creating positive social and environmental change. Her thesis project, Strangely Familiar, received several awards, including the Royal Scottish Academy New Contemporaries Medal for Architecture (2020) and the RIAS Rowand Anderson Silver Medal.
Together, Rayner Kellas sits at the intersection of design and making — combining spatial thinking with material craft to produce furniture that is quietly purposeful, carefully detailed, and joyful.
